For the Resident Potter

We did some photos of myself to put in a local shop that is selling some of my pottery.

It's always tricky to figure out just what looks good.

NEW PIECES

RAKU FIRE

This was some of the pieces that I have done at the EAGAN ART HOUSE, Sirri was the instructor we did a RAKU fire the last night of class.

Thursday, October 11, 2007

On the first day of the last series of classes that I attended the instructor ask if we wanted to do a alternative firing. We chose to do a "HORSE HAIR FIRING" this consisted of heating the items in a kiln and then pulling them out and putting tail or mane hair from a horse on them. The pieces are made from "RAKU" clay with a polished "TERRA SIGILLATA" coating. This gives the items a white finished look when fired. This was done on the last day of class. 10/10/07
